About the Show

The Light in the Piazza star Victoria Clark is reducing her performance schedule to six shows a week. Starting February 28, Clark will no longer perform on Tuesday or Wednesday nights. When Clark is out, the character of Margaret Johnson is expected to be played by Patti Cohenour, who usually portrays Signora Naccarelli.

"She extended her contract to July 2," a spokesperson for the actress explained to Broadway, "but she wanted to have more time to spend with her son. Now she'll be free at those times."

Clark won a Best Actress Tony Award for her performance as concerned mother Margaret Johnson in The Light in the Piazza. She involved with the show for many years, starring in both of its out-of-town engagements in Seattle and Chicago. While some other original principals have left the Broadway company, Clark has remained and is now contracted to stay until the show's scheduled July 2 closing date.

Currently the only Broadway actor with a six performance a week schedule is Sandra Joseph, who plays Christine Daae in The Phantom of the Opera.
