About the Show

The hit musical The Producers has announced two upcoming casting changes. John Treacy Egan, who currently plays Franz Liebkind in the show, will succeed Brad Oscar in the leading role of Max Bialystock on October 25, and Queer Eye for the Straight Guy's Jai Rodriguez will take on the part of Carmen Ghia beginning on November 1.

Egan joined The Producers company in May 2002. In addition to playing Franz Liebkind, he serves as the understudy for the part of Max Bialystock and has performed the role several times. Egan's other theater credits include Jekyll and Hyde on Broadway, the national tours of Cats and Kiss Me Kate and off-Broadway's Howard Crabtree's When Pigs Fly! and Bat Boy: The Musical.

Rodriguez, known as the Culture Vulture on Queer Eye for the Straight Guy, has appeared on Broadway in Rent and off-Broadway in Zanna Don't and Spinning into Butter, as well as the recent concert version of Hair. Rodriguez will also appear in the upcoming film version of The Producers.

In addition to Oscar and Egan, The Producers currently stars Hunter Foster Leo Bloom, Brad Musgrove Carmen Ghia and Angie Schworer Ulla. The Tony-winning musical, which is by Mel Brooks and Thomas Meehan and directed by Susan Stroman, plays at the St. James Theatre.
