'The Understudy' will now end its run on January 17.

Theresa Rebeck's showbiz comedy The Understudy has extended its run by two weeks. The production, directed by Scott Ellis and starring Julie White, Justin Kirk and Mark-Paul Gosselaar, was originally slated to end its limited engagement on January 3, 2010. The show will now play through January 17 at the Roundabout's Laura Pels Theatre.

The Understudy takes place behind the scenes during the Broadway run of a long lost Kafka play, introducing a cast of characters including a star who doesn’t understand the play, a disgruntled stage manager, a stoner set technician and an understudy trapped in a thankless job amidst all the comic chaos. A biting comedy, the show unfurls as the company tackles an unforgettable put-in rehearsal.

The Understudy opened on November 5.
