About Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown

What Is the Story of Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown?
This new musical adaptation of Pedro Almodovar’s 1988 film comedy centers on three women in Madrid, all of whom have problems with men. Main character Pepa is an actress whose lover, Ivan, has inexplicably left her. (She finds out via a voicemail.) Ivan’s ex-wife Lucia still pines for him, even though they broke up more than 20 years ago. Pepa’s best pal Candela, a ditzy model, is panicked because the guy she’s been sleeping with may be planning to blow up a building. Orbiting around this trio is Ivan, young couple Carlos (son of Ivan and Lucia) and Marisa, Paulina (Lucia’s lawyer, who harbors a secret), a busybody taxi driver and more. Will this motley group of Spaniards find happiness in life and love?
