The London production of Antony Jay and Jonathan Lynn’s Yes, Prime Minister, which closed at the Gielgud Theatre on January 15, 2011, will return to the West End this summer following a UK-wide tour. Acclaimed English actor Simon Williams and Olivier Award-nominee Richard McCabe, who star in the currently running tour, will reprise their roles beginning July 6 at the Apollo Theatre.
Yes, Prime Minister centers on Prime Minister Jim Hacker (McCabe), Cabinet Secretary Sir Humphrey Appleby (Williams) and Principal Private Secretary Bernard Woolley as they face a country in financial meltdown. When the only prospect of salvation comes from morally dubious allies, the consequences are no less than comic.
Adapted by Jay and Lynn from the classic television series, Yes, Prime Minister’s initial West End run began performances on September 17, 2010, and officially opened on September 23, directed by Lynn. The UK-tour, which launched on January 31 at Brighton Theatre Royal, will conclude on July 2 in Cardiff, Wales.
