William Holt and his late wife, the Baroness Irina von der Launitz, whose grandfather was the mayor of St. Petersburg until his assassination in 1907. Objects d'art, wall hangings, period antiques and ancient Russian books accentuate the restaurant's unique character and personality. To dine here is to dine like a Tsar.

America's first steak house, Gallagher's opened in 1927 and was the creation of Helen Gallagher, a former Ziegfeld Follies dancer. The aura of that unforgettable era is still alive at Gallagher's with the grand circular bar, the planked flooring, the red-and-white checkered tablecloths, the burnished-wood paneling, the nostalgic portraits of sporting legends, and - most of all - the hickory charcoal-grilled steaks.
This one-of-a-kind steak house for people who demand the real thing is a favorite among out-of-towners as well as native New Yorkers, not to mention celebrities. Together, they not only like the warm, no-nonsense atmosphere of Gallagher's, they appreciate all that it takes to be the benchmark for all steak houses from noon to midnight every day of the year.
