Nellie Forbush, Sandy Dumbrowski, Bonnie Parker...that’s the (truly!) diverse list of leading roles Laura Osnes has played in the last few seasons. After starring as the glam gangster moll in La Jolla Playhouse’s premiere of Bonnie and Clyde, Osnes is back in the Big Apple, replacing Kelli O’Hara as cockeyed optimist Nellie in South Pacific at Lincoln Center Theater. Osnes knows the role well, of course, having played it during O’Hara’s maternity leave last summer, and she was delighted to return to the Vivian Beaumont Theatre stage alongside Paulo Szot as Emile de Becque. On January 5, Broadway.com dropped by to snap photos of Osnes’ Broadway return.
