It's kind of hard to miss a title like the one belonging to off-Broadway's Abraham Lincoln's Big Gay Dance Party, the new play (with dance, obviously) that brings vaudeville and political commentary to the same stage. Opening August 11 at the Acorn Theatre, the play follows three different perspectives after a small-town Christmas pageant outs Honest Abe as more than just that guy on the five-dollar bill, bringing chaos along with a little fancy footwork. A hit at the 2009 New York International Fringe Festival, this unique mash-up of dance, theater and commentary written by Aaron Loeb is best explained by cast members Arnie Burton, Stephanie Pope Caffey, Robert Hogan, director Chris Smith and choreographer Vince Pesce. Watch this to get the skinny on the man in the stovepipe hat.
