Charles Busch Heads to Theater for the New City in Judith of Bethulia

Tony nominee Charles Busch will bring his new comedy Judith of Bethulia to off-Broadway's Theater for the New City for 24 performances only beginning March 30. The new show, written by and starring Busch, will be directed by his frequent collaborator Carl Andress (The Divine Sister, Die, Mommie Die!). 

Judith of Bethulia is billed as “an outrageous and bawdy celebration of the Hollywood Biblical epic.” Lepers, whores, eunuchs, centurions, evil generals, youthful poets and a beautiful redheaded widow will all take center stage in Charles Busch's latest comedy.

Joining Busch are Mary Testa (Queen of the Mist, Xanadu), Dave August (Naked Boys Singing!), Christopher Borg (Penny Penniworth), Larry Bullock (Charles Busch and Julie Halston: Together on Broadway), Kendal Sparks (Where’s Charley?), Jonathan Walker (The Divine Sister), Jennifer Van Dyck (The Divine Sister) and Billy Wheelan (Our Leading Lady).

As a playwright, Busch's resume includes the Tony-nominated The Tale of the Allergist's Wife, The Divine Sister, Psycho Beach Party, Die, Mommie Die!, The Lady in Question, Shanghai Moon, The Third Story and Vampire Lesbians of Sodom. He is also the subject of the documentary film The Lady in Question is Charles Busch.

Judith of Bethulia will feature scenic and graphic design by B.T. Whitehill, costume design by Jessica Jahn, lighting design by Kirk Bookman, sound design by Jill BC DuBoff and wig design by Katherine Carr.
