Legends littered the Neil Simon Theatre on March 22, when the latest Broadway revival of Jesus Christ Superstar officially opened on Broadway. Creators Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice were on hand to fete this production of their 1970 rock opera, which they’ve supported since it began life at the Stratford Shakespeare Festival in 2011. These two musical theater icons were joined by stars of stage and screen to cheer on Broadway newcomers Paul Nolan as Jesus, Josh Young as Judas and Chilina Kennedy as Mary Magdalene. After the curtain came down on the greatest story even told, proud director Des McAnuff and his cast, joined by fans and friends, headed to the Grand Ballroom of the Hilton Hotel to celebrate in Superstar style.
