Godspell Cast Set for Stephen Schwartz: A Concert at Joe’s Pub

Corbin Bleu and the cast of Godspell are set to celebrate the show's Grammy and Academy Award-winning composer Stephen Schwartz in concert at Joe’s Pub on May 23 under the musical direction of Charlie Alterman. The concert, which will feature songs from Schwartz projects including Pippin, Wicked, The Baker’s Wife, The Magic Show, Working, My Son Pinocchio, Children of Eden and Rags, benefits Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS.

Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS is the nation’s leading industry-based, nonprofit AIDS fundraising and grant-making organization. By drawing upon the talents, resources and generosity of the American theatre community, BC/EFA raises funds for AIDS-related causes and other critical illnesses across the United States.

The revival of Godspell marks the first Broadway production of Godspell since its original run transferred from off-Broadway to Broadway more than 30 years ago, closing at the Ambassador Theatre on September 4, 1977, after 527 performances. The musical features classic songs including "Day By Day," "By My Side" and "All For the Best." A 1973 feature film version starred Victor Garber as Jesus. Originally starring Hunter Parrish as Jesus, the current Godspell revival opened at Broadway’s Circle in the Square Theatre on November 7, 2011.

Directed by Daniel Goldstein and choreographed by Tony nominee Christopher Gattelli, Godspell also stars  Wallace Smith, Uzo Aduba, Nick Blaemire, Celisse Henderson, Telly Leung, Lindsay Mendez, George Salazar, Anna Maria Perez de Tagle and Morgan James.
