Frasier vet David Hyde Pierce has spent the last few years onstage, including a Tony-winning performance in Curtains and starring roles in the Broadway revival of La Bete, the off-Broadway comedy Close Up Space and the Vineyard’s developmental production of The Landing. Away from the theater, Pierce is a tireless advocate for Alzheimer’s awareness and research, having lost his grandfather to the disease. On June 4, the NYC chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association honored the actor with a Lifetime Leadership Award at its black-tie “Forget-Me-Not” gala at the Pierre Hotel. Broadway.com dropped by to get snapshots of the festive evening, which was emceed by Victor Garber and featured a special performance by Jonathan Groff.
