Razzle Dazzle 'Em! Amy Spanger Returns to Chicago as Roxie Hart

Amy Spanger begins performances as merry murderess Roxie Hart in the long-running revival of Chicago on September 14. This is Spanger's second romp as Roxie; she previously played the vampy killer in 2002.

Chicago follows Roxie Hart, a housewife and wannabe starlet whose murder of her lover lands her in prison. Desperate to avoid conviction, she hires Billy Flynn, Chicago's slickest criminal lawyer, who also happens to represent her rival cellmate, Velma Kelly. Directed by Walter Bobbie, the Tony-winning revival is now in its 16th year and currently stars Terra C. MacLeod as Velma Kelly, Brent Barrett as Billy Flynn, Raymond Bokhour as Amos Hart and Carol Woods as Matron “Mama” Morton.

Spanger most recently starred as Gwendolen in David Hyde Pierce’s production of The Importance of Being Earnest at the Williamstown Theatre Festival. She has appeared on Broadway in Rock of Ages, Elf, The Wedding Singer, Kiss Me Kate, Urinetown and Sunset Boulevard. Off-Broadway, Spanger starred in tick, tick…Boom!, and her regional and touring credits include Rent, Chicago, A Chorus Line and Robin and the Seven Hoods.
