Tony-winning director Harold Prince will serve as host of the fourth annual Broadway Salutes event on September 20 in Times Square. Prince will be joined by New York City Council Speaker Christine Quinn and Tony nominee Laura Osnes. Directed by Marc Bruni with musical direction by Charlie Alterman, the ceremony will kick off with a musical performance by Osnes, featuring a special video tribute produced by Broadway.com.
Presented by the Broadway League and Coalition of Broadway Unions and Guilds, the event is an industry-wide celebration honoring those who make Broadway great including technicians, stagehands, wardrobe workers, hair and makeup artists, theater owners, actors, producers, playwrights, casting directors, general managers, publicists, ushers, designers, musicians, directors, choreographers and more. The ceremony also gives special recognition to individuals who have worked for 25, 35 and 50 years in their respective theatrical crafts.
During his acclaimed career, Prince has won 21 Tony Awards including a Lifetime Achievement Award. His many Broadway directing credits include The Phantom of the Opera, Evita, Sweeney Todd, Cabaret, Follies, A Little Night Music, Show Boat, Pacific Overtures and Parade. Osnes earned a Tony nomination for Bonnie and Clyde. Her other Broadway credits include Grease, Anything Goes and South Pacific. She will play the title role in the upcoming Broadway production of Cinderella.
