Rupert Everett to Star as Oscar Wilde in The Judas Kiss at the West End's Duke of York Theatre

Following a sell out run at Hampstead Theatre, Neil Armfield’s production of The Judas Kiss , starring Rupert Everett, will transfer to the West End with the full Hampstead company reprising their roles. The production will begin performances at the Duke of York Theatre on January 9, 2013, with opening night set for January 17.

Everett and Freddie Fox star as Oscar Wilde and Lord Alfred Douglas, respectively, alongside Cal Macaninch as Robert Ross, Ben Hardy, Kirsty Oswald, Alister Cameron and Tom Colley.

Written by David Hare, The Judas Kiss is a fascinating insight into Oscar Wilde’s relationship with Lord Alfred Douglas. The play focuses on two critical moments in Wilde’s last years – the eve of his arrest at the Cadogan Hotel, and a night in Naples after his release from two years imprisonment. The Judas Kiss speculates on the consequences of Wilde's destructive fatalism, betrayal and love without trust.

Rupert Everett’s many stage credits include Another Country, Blithe Spirit and The Milk Train Doesn’t Stop Here Anymore. His film credits include My Best Friend’s Wedding, Another Country, The Importance of Being Earnest and An Ideal Husband.

Freddie Fox made his Hampstead Theatre debut in this production. His film and television credits include Parade’s End, The Shadow Line, Marilyn in Worried About the Boy, The Mystery of Edwin Drood and The Three Musketeers.
