Forbidden Broadway: Alive & Kicking has extended through April 28, 2013 at off-Broadway's 47th Street Theatre. The show, which lovingly mocks Broadway’s biggest shows and stars, was initially set to close on January 6.
Forbidden Broadway spoofs shows from the past Broadway season including Newsies, Ghost, Once, Follies, Evita, Jesus Christ Superstar, End of the Rainbow, Nice Work If You Can Get It, Porgy and Bess, Into the Woods and Spider-Man, Turn Off the Dark. In addition to new shows, the production will also target long-running Broadway musicals including The Book of Mormon, Wicked, Mary Poppins and The Lion King.
Alive and Kicking is the 21st edition of Forbidden Broadway, which premiered off-Broadway in 1982. Written by Gerard Alessandrini and directed by Alessandrini and Phillip George, the show stars Jenny Lee Stern, Scott Richard Foster, Natalie Charle Ellis and Marcus Stevens.
