The Heiress is bringing a touch of 19th-century charm to the Walter Kerr Theatre, starring Academy Award nominee Jessica Chastain and Dan Stevens of Downton Abbey. Directed by Moises Kaufman, the classic play by Ruth and Augustus Goetz tells the story of Catherine Sloper, a plain-looking but exceedingly wealthy young woman who falls in love with Morris Townsend, a handsome suitor. Although Catherine is ready to marry Morris, her stern father (played by David Strathairn) suspects that the younger man is only after his daughter’s money.
