Cirque du Soleil will make another splash in New York this spring with an all-new big top production, Totem. Written and directed by Robert Lepage, Totem will begin performances on March 14, 2013 for a limited engagement at Citi Field (home of the New York Mets).
Totem is a fascinating look at the human species, from its amphibian state to its innate desire to fly like the thunderbird at the top of the totem pole. The production will bring to life the evolution of species, inspired by many founding myths, through stunning visual and acrobatic work.
Totem premiered in 2010 and has been performed in front of over 2 million audience members in 16 different cities across four countries. The show features a cast of 52 performing artists hailing from 19 different nations. Totem will mark the 25th anniversary of Cirque du Soleil’s first visit to New York, and the 11th visit of a big top show. Cirque du Soleil performed the show Zarkana at New York's Radio City Music Hall during the last two summers.
