Scarlett Strallen and John Partridge will headline the upcoming West End revival of A Chorus Line as Caissie and Zach, respecitvely. The musical will begin previews on February 5, 2013, at the London Palladium, with opening night set for February 19.
Also joing the company are Leigh Zimmerman as Sheila and Victoria Hamilton-Barritt as Diana. A Chorus Line examines the audition process of Broadway dancers trying to land a spot on a chorus line.The show provides a glimpse into the personalities of the performers and the choreographer as they describe the events that have shaped their lives and their decisions to become dancers.
A Chorus Line has music by Marvin Hamlisch, a book by James Kirkwood and Nicholas Dante and lyrics by Edward Kleban. The West End production is directed by Bob Avian, who also directed the 2006 Tony-nominated Broadway revival of A Chorus Line. This revival is intended to be a tribute to Hamlisch, who passed away in August.
Strallen is currently starring as Kathy in London's Singin' in the Rain. Her other West End credits include H.M.S. Pinafore, Mary Poppins, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Peggy Sue Got Married and The Witches of Eastwick. She appeared on Broadway in Mary Poppins. Partridge's West End credits include The Drowsy Chaperone, The Fix, Tommy and The Hunting Of The Snark. Zimmerman appeared in The Producers in the West End and in the Broadway productions of Chicago, Crazy for You and The Will Rogers Follies. Hamilton-Barritt starred in Fame in the West End.
