Get a Soaking Wet First Look at the National Tour of Flashdance

It’s time to live the magic of the '80s all over again as Flashdance makes its way to the stage in a brand new national tour. The musical version of the popular 1983 film premiered in Pittsburgh (where the story is set) on January 3 and is off on a 19-city tour before making its way to Broadway in August. Broadway.com is bringing you the first glimpses of the new musical in action. Flashdance tells the story of Alex Owens (Emily Padgett), a working-class girl from Pittsburgh striving to make her dreams of becoming a professional dancer a reality. She works by day at a steel mill, where she catches the eye of her boss Nick Hurley (Matthew Hydzik). By night she works as a “flashdancer” at a local bar, but longs to become a student at the prestigious Shipley Dance Academy. The musical features hits from the film’s Grammy-winning soundtrack, including “Flashdance—What a Feeling,” “Maniac,” “Gloria” and 10 original songs.
