Lorna Luft Undergoing Treatment for Breast Cancer

Singer and Broadway alum Lorna Luft, who recently headlined Lorna’s Living Room as part of the Broadway at Birdland concert series in New York City, has undergone surgery for breast cancer. She is starting a regimen of adjuvant chemotherapy and will resume her concert appearances in mid-August. Her solo show Songs My Mother Taught Me, originally scheduled to run from May 8 through 26 at the Flat Rock Playhouse in North Carolina, has been postponed. In its place, the venue will mount Souvenir, starring Linda Edwards.

“Ms. Luft added that she is joining an extraordinary group of women who have gone through, are going through and will go through this journey with love, respect and optimism,” a press representative said in a statement.

The daughter of Judy Garland and Sid Luft, the actress and singer has appeared on Broadway in Promises, Promises and the concert special Judy Garland: At Home at the Palace. Her film and TV credits include Grease 2, Trapper John, M.D. and Murder She Wrote. She starred in the national tour of They’re Playing Our Song, off-Broadway in Snoopy the Musical and in The Wizard of Oz in London. Her debut album, Songs My Mother Taught Me was released in 2007, produced by Barry Manilow.
