The Tutors, a new comedy by Erica Lipez, has extended at off-Broadway’s Second Stage Uptown through June 23. Directed by Thomas Kail, the production began performances May 22 and opened officially on June 5 at off-Broadway’s McGinn/Cazale Theatre. The Tutors stars Luis Ozawa Changchien, Matt Dellapina, Aubrey Dollar, Keith Nobbs and Chris Perfetti.
The play tells the story of three friends, Heidi (Dollar), Toby (Nobbs) and Joe (Dellapina), who are tutors by day and run a social networking website by night. While catering to the offspring of the New York elite has forced them to confront the anticlimax of adulthood, these roommates are not ready to give up on their social networking startup—just yet. When Heidi’s online editing begins to invade her subconscious and a student crosses the line, all three friends might be in over their heads.
The Tutors features scenic designer Rachel Hauck, costume designer Jessica Jahn, lighting designer Betsy Adams, sound designer Jill DuBoff and fight director Thomas Schall.
