Stenographer-turned-murderer Ruth Snyder is resurrected on Broadway in the haunting drama Machinal, a 1928 play by Sophie Treadwell inspired by Snyder’s true-life story. We’ve got a haunting first look at Roundabout Theatre Company's revival at the American Airlines Theatre, starring Rebecca Hall, Suzanne Bertish, Michael Cumpsty and Morgan Spector. Directed by Lyndsey Turner, Machinal tells the story of a young woman (Hall) who lives a life dictated completely by society and marries her boss, even though he disgusts her. When she has a passionate affair with a younger man, the woman begins to dream of killing her husband to get out of her loveless marriage.
