Deck the Halls with...Idina Menzel?! The If/Then Star Reveals Plans for a Christmas Album

You know what we’ve always been waiting for from Jewish Broadway superstar Idina Menzel? An album celebrating the birth of Jesus. Obviously. At Radio City Music Hall on June 16, the If/Then star revealed she is at work on a Christmas album. Menzel also accepted her second Tony a beer bottle at the sold-out concert.

The diva shared that the album will feature recognizable Christmas favorites as well as original songs, including one that she went on to perform called “December Prayer.”

“I know I’m Jewish,” she said as she introduced the new song, “but a lot of famous Jewish people have written Christmas songs, so I’m going to try and have a lot of their songs on the album.”

Christmas tunes penned by Jewish composers? Let's name a few: “White Christmas” by Irving Berlin, “I’ll Be Home for Christmas” by Buck Ram and Walter Kent and Sammy Cahn, and Julie Styne’s “Let It Snow” and “The Christmas Waltz.”
