Here's a quick roundup of stories you may have missed today.
Look Out! Little Shop Urchins Sing for Charity
The three belty urchins from the Broadway production of Little Shop of Horrors will reunite for a great cause. Carla J. Hargrove, Trisha Jeffrey and DeQuina Moore will headline the seventh annual Living for Today benefit concert. Proceeds will go to Gilana’s Fund, which celebrates and encourages educational programming promoting acceptance and understanding in our community. “Shing-a-Ling: A Night with the Broadway Urchins” will play Joe’s Pub on October 27. Last year, Idina Menzel made a surprise appearance at the benefit. No guarantees this year, but we’re just saying.
People Will Be Singing Frozen Forever
Speaking of Idina, when’s the last time you belted out “Let It Go”? If it’s been a while, fear not: soon you’ll be able to sing along to the global phenomenon that is Frozen (as if we weren’t doing that already?). The Disney flick will release a sing-along edition DVD on November 18. It’s the perfect holiday gift for your newborn baby Elsa.
The Leftovers Will Stick Around
Look who’s here, they’re still here. The HBO series The Leftovers, featuring Tony nominee Carrie Coon, has been renewed for a second season. The rapture-themed show ends its first season on September 7. So far, we’ve seen a handful of Broadway faces, including Tony nominee Billy Magnussen, Sebastian Arcelus and Cabaret’s Bill Heck. We wonder what other stage faves we’ll see next season?
Duck Your Head, Clear the Air for Allison Williams
She’s flying! Allison Williams took to Instagram to share an inside look at her first day of flight rehearsals for the forthcoming NBC broadcast of Peter Pan Live!. Paying homage to the late Robin Williams’ performance in Hook, she wrote, “Thinking about and missing a hero of mine who once did this and left big shoes to fill.” The Girls star will lead a cast on December 4 that includes Christopher Walken and Tony winner Christian Borle.
