Labor Day weekend came and went, and there was at least one drag queen who can say she werked hard for the money. The Tony-winning Kinky Boots ended its second summer back in the top five grossing shows, coming in just short of $1.3 million. In a couple of days, New York won't be the only place to experience the Land of Lola; the national tour of the hit musical kicks off on September 4 in Las Vegas. Meanwhile, a newcomer to the Great White Way, It's Only a Play, began preview performances with a strong start. In its five shows last week, the production, starring Nathan Lane and Matthew Broderick, exceeded capacity at 101.07%. Numbers also climbed for Hedwig and the Angry Inch: Andrew Rannells' second week of performances as the rock goddess reached 93.06% capacity, a slight but macroscopic boost from the week prior.
