Here's a quick roundup of stories you may have missed today.
Alec Baldwin Returns to Theater
After a tumultuous turn on the Great White Way with Orphans, Alec Baldwin is returning to the boards in All My Sons. The New York Post reports that he will appear opposite two-time Tony nominee and Roseanne star Laurie Metcalf in the Arthur Miller classic in June at East Hampton’s Guild Hall. Hopefully the run off-off-off Broadway will be a calmer one for all concerned and Shia LaBeouf won't stop by and repeat his behavior at Cabaret.
Condola Rashad Takes Tinseltown
Broadway fave Condola Rashad (Romeo and Juliet, The Trip to Bountiful and Stick Fly) is making it big in Hollywood! According to Deadline, the Tony nominee will take on the role of George Clooney’s assistant in the Jodie Foster-helmed Money Monster. Rashad is additionally set to appear opposite Rachel Weisz, Danny Glover, Kathy Bates and Michael Shannon in an untitled movie about a mysterious woman at a dinner party. And that's not all! She also just shot a pilot for Showtime, Billions, starring Paul Giamatti and Damian Lewis. Congrats, Condola!
James Houghton Steps Down From Signature
James Houghton, the founding Artistic Director of Signature Theatre, will step down next year at the end of the 2015-16 25th anniversary season. Under Houghton's stewardship, in 2012 Signature opened The Pershing Square Signature Center, the largest new theater center in New York City in nearly 50 years, and was recognized in 2014 with the Regional Theatre Tony Award. A new Artistic Director will be welcomed by July 1, 2016. We at Broadway.com wish Houghton all the best and a speedy recovery.
