About Blood and Gifts

What Is the Story of Blood and Gifts?
Blood and Gifts examines the events in Pakistan, Afghanistan and the United States during the Soviet-Afghan war of 1981-91. As the play begins, British and U.S. spies are funneling weapons through Pakistan in an attempt to defeat the Russians, while the KGB and Pakistani secret service attempt to control events from afar. CIA agent Jim Warnock is at the center of the action, determined to help the Afghans defeat the Russians, even if the resulting change of power does as much harm as good in the long run.
