Disgraced tells the the story of Amir Kapoor, a successful Pakistani-American lawyer who is rapidly moving up the corporate ladder while distancing himself from his cultural roots. When Amir and his wife Emily, a white artist influenced by Islamic paintings, host a dinner party, what starts out as a friendly conversation escalates into something far more damaging.
What Is the Story of Disgraced?
DIsgraced centers on Amir Kapoor, a successful Pakistani-American corporate lawyer who feels he must distance himself from his heritage in order to get ahead in post-9/11 New York. His wife is a white artist who finds herself heavy influenced by Islamic paintings; his Muslim nephew is struggling to understand his role in modern New York culture. When Amir and his wife host a dinner party for his African American co-worker and her Jewish husband, tensions flare, allegiances change and the consequences are shocking.
