Stellar All Around
"This show is an excellent revisit to the myths of Orpheus and Eurydice, and Hades and Persephone. With a jazzy and exhilarating score, choreography and staging to shake you to your core, and masterful costuming and sets, there’s nothing in this show that’s not to love. Be warned, though! It’s a sad tale— it’s a tragedy. Nonetheless, it’s hands-down my favorite show on Broadway."

"Every actor had their own interpretation of their character. They each had their own unique gifts and highlighted them for the performance. Stunning set, excellent lighting, and above all….an amazing band. "

A brilliant show
"The music complemented the story so well, and the entire cast was stellar. Hermes could read the phone book for two and a half hours and I would buy a ticket for the show. Theater fans MUST see this show if they haven't already. "

OMG!!!
"Hadestown is one of those shows where you don’t want to pick up your phone to check the time because it feels slow and boring. The characters, vocals, and plot are so captivating and the level of talent the cast must have to be able to capture the beauty of this show is so unbelievable. The cast I was blessed to see was my exact vision of the show. I had only seen high schools performing the teen edition of this show until now and let me tell you the story just got 100 times better by seeing professionals do it. The acting, the dedication, the passion, and the way the audience can feel the characters emotions is genuinely insane. This show is very vocally challenging and very difficult to perform but this cast blew it out of the water. I would see it again and again and some more. "

I was blown away!
"This show was captivating from the very beginning! It was my first time seeing Hadestown, so I didn’t know what to expect, but everyone did such a great job! I haven’t been able to stop thinking about it since I left the theater. I would recommend this musical to anyone because it’s just that good! Well, maybe not kids, but that’s only because it has certain themes that may be hard for young ones to understand. Overall, I can confidently say it’s 5 star worthy!"

Memorable and Enjoyable
"Great casting, wonderful voices. Meaningfully introspective without being depressing. I appreciated that they respected the original story rather than taking Hollywood license to mangle it to their preference."

Simply amazing! Must see!
"My daughter preformed as Persephone in her school production of Hadestown so we were so excited to see the Broadway performance and it did not disappoint! Absolutely amazing and the actors were fabulous. If u are unfamiliar with the play I would recommend reading a synopsis beforehand but it’s easily understandable. The songs are stuck in my head and I woke up singing them. Our only disappointment was that the actress who did an amazing job as Persephone didn’t come outside after the show but understand they can’t do that after every performance and we were still excited to c the other cast members that did."

9/10 underwordly ferrymen loved this
"I have spent an eternity beneath the earth, tallying debts, stamping papers, and watching hope wither under fluorescent light. Tears are a luxury not afforded to the workers of Hadestown. Yet somehow, against all reason, this musical cracked even my stone-cold heart. Hadestown takes an old story and makes it feel painfully, gloriously human. The music rumbles like machinery and sighs like a lonely train, carrying us through a world where love struggles against power, fear, and inevitability. I scoffed at Orpheus's optimism. I recognized Hades's obsession with control. I nodded grimly at every compromise made in the name of security. And then the impossible happened: I cared. By the final moments, knowing exactly how the story would end, I found myself moved to tears. Not because the outcome changes, but because people keep singing, keep loving, keep trying anyway. For a denizen of Hades, that is perhaps the most radical idea of all. A haunting, beautiful triumph."

Incredible talent
"I’ve been wanting to see this production for several years. That being said, I was absolutely blown away by the talent and hard work for every single person involved in this production on and off. Highly recommend you take the time to go see this beautifully executed story. The smaller theatre was also so cool. Made the show feel intimate for those in the back. "

About Hadestown

Welcome to Hadestown, where a song can change your fate. This acclaimed new musical by celebrated singer-songwriter Anaïs Mitchell and innovative director Rachel Chavkin (Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812) is a love story for today… and always.

Hadestown intertwines two mythic tales—that of young dreamers Orpheus and Eurydice, and that of King Hades and his wife Persephone—as it invites you on a hell-raising journey to the underworld and back. Mitchell’s beguiling melodies and Chavkin’s poetic imagination pit industry against nature, doubt against faith, and fear against love. Performed by a vibrant ensemble of actors, singers, dancers, and musicians, Hadestown is a haunting and hopeful theatrical experience that grabs you and never lets go.
