Idina Menzel Makes Pop Star Debut at the Garden

Broadway's own Idina Menzel made her pop singing debut on a bill headlined by concert superstar Michael Buble on September 17 at the annual One Night With Lite concert at Madison Square Garden's 5,000-seat WaMu Theatre. Our Ms. Menzel appeared fourth on the six-person roster, following Peter Cincotti, K.T. Tunstall and Babyface and just before John Ondrasik and a 35-minute set by Buble. It was an exciting kickoff for Idina's solo CD (due in January) produced by Grammy winner Glen Ballard, who played tribute to her stellar vocal chops and writing ability in a career highlights video (including her Tony win for Wicked). Menzel, dressed to kill in a belted white lace gown, performed "I Stand," "Break Free" and "Gorgeous" and charmed the crowd with jokes about her humble beginnings as a wedding singer on Long Island. Broadway.com shared the big night with Team Menzel and got exclusive photos of the happy star with her proud hubby, Taye Diggs, family and friends. T
