Theater Policies

The American Airlines Theatre has recently updated their health & safety policies. As the theater updates its policies, we will update this page to reflect them.

COVID-19 Health & Safety Guidelines

For everyone’s protection and peace of mind, Roundabout Theatre Company is requiring proof of full COVID-19 vaccination with an FDA- or WHO-authorized vaccine for our audiences—as well as artists and staff. We will require proof of a recent negative COVID-19 test for those who are unvaccinated due to a disability or religious belief.

All audience members 12 years of age and older are required to be fully vaccinated before entering the theatre and must show proof of vaccination with a valid photo ID. “Vaccinated” means on the day of the performance date as shown on the valid ticket, a guest has received
  • (a) the second dose of an FDA or WHO authorized 2-dose COVID-19 vaccine, or
  • (b) the single dose of an FDA or WHO authorized 1-dose vaccine, or
  • (c) for international guests, 2 doses of any “mix and match” combination of an FDA or WHO approved COVID-19 vaccines is acceptable.

  • Any guest whose last vaccine dose (excluding boosters) was fewer than 14 days before the date of performance must, in addition to meeting these requirements, also present proof of (a) a negative COVID-19 PCR test within 72 hours of the performance time, or (b) a negative COVID-19 antigen test within 6 hours of performance time.

All audience members will be required to show proof of vaccination, which clearly identifies the vaccine received and the date of the last dose, along with a corresponding photo ID.

Audience members age 5-11 must present proof of at least ONE dose of an FDA or WHO approved COVID-19 vaccine AND be accompanied by an adult who complies with the entry requirements. Children under age 5 are not permitted in the theatre.

Audience members with a qualifying disability, or a sincerely held religious belief precluding them from receiving the vaccine may present—in lieu of proof of vaccination—proof of a negative COVID-19 PCR test within 72 hours of the performance start time, or a negative COVID-19 rapid antigen test within 6 hours of the performance start time.

To expedite entry into the theatre, we recommend use of the Excelsior Pass and corresponding photo ID for anyone who was vaccinated in New York State, or the CLEAR Health Pass to show proof of vaccination. Other proof of vaccination which clearly identifies the vaccine received and the date of the last dose, along with a corresponding photo ID will also be accepted.

All audience members are required to wear facial masks that cover the nose and mouth at all times while in the theatre.

By entering a Roundabout Theatre Company venue, theatregoer assumes all risks associated with entering a place of public gathering and voluntarily waives any and all claims and potential claims against Roundabout Theatre Company relating to COVID-19 or any other communicable disease or illness, or that arise from or relate in any way to, however caused, the risk of exposure or actual or alleged exposure to a bacteria, virus or other pathogen capable of causing COVID-19 or any other communicable disease or illness, in each case whether the actual or alleged circumstances giving rise to any claim or potential claim occur before, during, or after the event.

By purchasing a ticket to a Roundabout event, or by entering or by one’s presence in a Roundabout venue, a theatre goer agrees to abide by all COVID-19 safety protocols as determined by Roundabout Theatre Company at the time of the event. Theatregoer agrees to adjust any behavior as instructed by members of Roundabout Theatre Company staff, should a staff member determine such behavior to be unsafe and request such an adjustment. Specific safety protocols will be listed on roundabouttheatre.org prior to performances and may be updated at any time.
