George Hamilton has signed on for a four-week return engagement as Billy Flynn in the Broadway company of Chicago. Hamilton begins performances on September 10, after a week-long stint with the show's national tour at San Diego's Civic Theatre September 4-9. He will appear through October 7 at the Ambassador Theatre.
Hamilton, who recently appeared on the big screen in Woody Allen's Hollywood Ending, made his Broadway debut in Chicago in November 2001 and later reprised the role in June 2002. His films include Off Key, The Godfather Part III, Doc Hollywood, Love at First Bite and Zorro, the Gay Blade. In addition to countless television appearances including a stint on Dancing With the Stars Hamilton has acted onstage in Love Letters, The Philadelphia Story, Barefoot in the Park and Gigi.
As previously announced, R&B star Brian McKnight steps into the role of Billy Flynn on Broadway beginning October 8. The Broadway cast currently stars Michelle DeJean as Roxie Hart through September 2, Brenda Braxton as Velma Kelly, Tom Wopat as Billy Flynn through September 2, Rob Bartlett as Amos Hart, Adriane Lenox as Matron "Mama" Morton and R. Lowe as Mary Sunshine. Tracy Shayne returns as Roxie Hart beginning September 4.
