A total of 32 shows are now playing on Broadway, with a handful more due by the end of the year.

With three news entries (Fela!, In the Next Room or The Vibrator Play and Ragtime) beginning previews, a total of 32 Broadway shows are now vying for theatergoers’ attention. In a week that saw overall grosses decline slightly, the biggies (musicals such as Wicked and Billy Elliot and the smash hit play A Steady Rain) stayed big, while other newcomers struggled to gain a foothold.
