The cast of the off-Broadway production of Hitchcock spoof The 39 Steps is set. The show, which transferred from a lengthy Broadway run, will star John Behlmann as Richard Hannay, Cameron Folmar as Man #2, Jamie Jackson as Man #1 and Kate MacCluggage as Annabella Schmidt/Pamela/Margaret. The 39 Steps, adapted by Patrick Barlow and directed by Maria Aitken, will begin performances on March 25 at New World Stages and open there on April 15.
Behlmann appeared on Broadway in Journey’s End and off-Broadway in Ghosts at the Pearl Theatre Company. His film credits include Revolutionary Road, Pretty Bird and Unstoppable. Folmar appeared in the Broadway production of The 39 Steps. His other New York stage credits include Five by Tenn, Merchant of Venice and The Jew of Malta. Jackson’s stage credits include the national tour of Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, Babes in Toyland and Laughing Liberally. His film and TV credits include The Flight of the Concords, Adventures of Flipper, Daydream Believer, Portrait of a Whig and Chicken Punch. MacCluggage’s stage credits include Broadway’s The Farnsworth Invention and off-Broadway’s Stuck. Her TV and film credits include All My Children and Natural Causes.
The 39 Steps features a cast of four actors who, against all odds, breathlessly and hilariously attempt to reenact all of the characters, locations and famous scenes in Hitchcock’s 1935 film thriller with just a few props and a lot of theatrical ingenuity and split second quick changes.
