The Kid - Off-Broadway

A new musical based on the real-life tale of a sex columnist adopting a child with his partner.

New Musical The Kid Takes Its Official First Steps Off-Broadway

When relationship columnist and activist Dan Savage decided he and his partner would adopt a child together over 10 years ago, he knew he was in for a ride. What he didn’t know then, however, was that his incredible journey would eventually play out live onstage, as it’s currently doing in the New Group’s aptly titled The Kid. Starring Christopher Sieber and Lucas Steele, the new tuner takes audiences on an adventure through the legal, emotional, social and psychological red tape of adopting as gay parents—and somehow makes the potentially heavy subject matter outright funny. The show celebrated its opening night on May 10, officially birthing the new musical for eager off-Broadway audiences at the Acorn Theatre. Click through for a look at The Kid’s first steps!
