Hair’s Abraham Lincoln Elected Favorite Onstage President
Saycon Sengbloh in 'Hair' & Abraham Lincoln
Hail to the Chief: Lincoln (as seen in 'Hair') voted favorite onstage president.

As America celebrated the Fourth of July this past weekend we asked fans to choose your favorite onstage appearance by a U.S. president. As in any election, the votes are in, and Hair’s Abraham Lincoln has been sworn in to first place. The singing, cross-dressing, death-defying portrayal of America’s 16th chief executive in the tribal love-rock musical pulled in 22% of the votes.

Following closely in second place is another over-the-top interpretation of a president: the emo rocker populist Andrew Jackson, title star of the recent off-Broadway hit musical Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson, who pulled in 21% of the votes. The nation’s second president, John Adams, landed in third place with 14% of votes for helping shepherd the Declaration of Independence in 1776. The top five was rounded out by Will Ferrell’s comedic impression of George W. Bush in You’re Welcome America (12%) and the ever-optimistic Franklin Delano Roosevelt in Annie (8%).

Thanks for voting!
