Sharpen those claws, theater fans. Tickets are officially on sale for the Roundabout Underground debut of playwright Kim Rosenstock’s new comedy Tigers Be Still, starring Natasha Lyonne, Halley Feiffer, Reed Birney and John Magaro. Directed by Sam Gold (Circle Mirror Transformation), the production begins performances at the Black Box Theatre at the Miriam and Harold Steinberg Center for Theatre on September 10. Opening night is set for October 6.

Tigers Be Still
centers on Sherry Wickman (Feiffer), a young woman who expects the perfect career and life to fall into place immediately upon earning her masters degree in art therapy. Instead, Sherry finds herself unemployed, overwhelmed and back at home hiding out in her twin-sized childhood bed. But when Sherry gets hired as a substitute art teacher, things begin to brighten up—now if only her mother would come downstairs, her sister would get off the couch, her very first therapy patient would do just one of his take-home assignments, her new boss would leave his gun at home and someone would catch the tiger that escaped from the local zoo, everything would be just perfect.

The play is part of the Roundabout Theatre Company’s Roundabout Underground initiative, a project that nurtures developing playwrights and directors while giving established artists a chance to return to their theatrical roots—which means you’ll be taking in a show and giving back to the theater community once you nab those tickets.
