One night in Bangkok, and the world’s your oyster… When we think of Chess, we can’t help launching into Tim Rice’s twisty-good lyrics for the show’s most famous song. And once again, it’s time to get our kicks above the waistline, sunshine, at Signature Theatre of Virginia’s revival of the 1988 cult hit musical, featuring tunes by the ABBA team of Bjorn Ulvaeus and Benny Andersson. Eric Schaeffer’s production boasts a cast worth climbing aboard Amtrak to see: Jeremy Kushnier (our fave since Footloose) as the American chess champ, Freddie; Tony nominee Euan Morton (Taboo, Sondheim on Sondheim) as his Russian counterpart, Anatoly; and Jill Paice (Curtains) as Florence, the woman they both pine for. The show goes on through September 26, but for now, here are Broadway.com’s on-the-scene snapshots of the stars.
