The play tells the origin of the boy who would not grow up.

Peter and the Starcatcher, a new play by Tony winner Rick Elice (Jersey Boys) inspired by the characters in Peter Pan, will feature Next to Normal star Adam Chanler-Berat as Peter. Tony nominees Christian Borle and Celia Keenan-Bolger will also appear in the show, which starts performances at off-Broadway’s New York Theatre Workshop on February 18, 2011.

Based on a novel by Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson, Peter and the Starcatcher tells the backstory of Peter Pan, the “boy who would not grow up.” Roger Rees and Alex Timbers (Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson) will co-direct this premiere production.

In addition to Borle (who plays Black Stache) and Keenan-Bolger (Molly), the cast of Peter and the Starcatcher includes Tedd Bergman, Arnie Burton, Matt D’Amico, Brandon Dirden, Carson Elrod, Kevin Del Aguilera, Greg Hildreth, Karl Kenzler and David Rossmer.

Peter and the Starcatcher is set to open on March 9, 2011 and run through April 3.
