Hugh Jackman and Kristin Chenoweth Headline On the Twentieth Century Reading
Kristin Chenoweth & Hugh Jackman
Hugh Jackman and Kristin Chenoweth hop aboard the 'Twentieth Century' for Roundabout Theatre Company.

Broadway favorites Hugh Jackman and Kristin Chenoweth took part in a recent reading of the 1978 musical On the Twentieth Century, according to Variety. Actress Andrea Martin, who co-starred in the Roundabout Theatre Company reading, confirmed the casting via twitter. There is as yet no official word about the reading itself or its implications for any possible future production, with or without these stars attached.

On the Twentieth Century tells the story of the behind-the-scenes relationship of a temperamental actress and a director, and was a collaboration between composer Cy Coleman and book writer-lyricists Betty Comden and Adolph Green. It first bowed on Broadway in 1978 under the direction of theater legend Harold Prince, starring Tony winner John Cullum, Madeline Kahn (who was quickly replaced by Judy Kaye), Kevin Kline and Imogene Coca.

Chenoweth, a Tony winner for her role in You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown, has also starred in Broadway hits like Wicked and the recent Promises, Promises. Jackman earned a Best Actor Tony for his splashy Broadway debut as Peter Allen in The Boy From Oz and more recently took to the Rialto stage opposite Daniel Craig in the play A Steady Rain.
