As Broadway welcomes a flood of new productions in advance of the Tony Awards' April 28 eligibility cutoff, Broadway.com asked which show from fall 2010 you hope nominators will remember. The voting public has spoken, and Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson took top honors. The rock musical, which played at the Jacobs Theatre earlier this season with Benjamin Walker in the title role, scored 30% of votes.
Readers also showed enthusiasm for The Scottsboro Boys, the final collaboration between Broadway legends John Kander and Fred Ebb. The historical musical, which received strong reviews in a brief run at the Lyceum Theatre, earned 24% of votes.
In third place was the musical adaptation of Pedro Almodovar's Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown. Headed by a starry cast including Patti LuPone, Sherie Rene Scott and Laura Benanti, the Lincoln Center Theater musical premiere at Broadway's Belasco Theatre received 12% of votes.
Thanks for voting!
