Former Gay Porn Star and Broadway Vet Ryan Idol Convicted of Attempted Murder

The popular porn star made his Broadway debut in 'The Ritz' at Studio 54.

Gay porn star Ryan Idol, who went legit with his Broadway debut in the Roundabout Theater Company production of The Ritz, was convicted of attempted murder by a Sacramento Superior Court jury on September 20. According to The Sacramento Bee, the actor, whose given name is Marc Anthony Donais, was taken into custody and held without bail.

Donais was accused of smashing his girlfriend over the head with a toilet tank lid during an attack on September 5, 2009 at their West Sacramento condo. At his trial, he testified that he thought the victim had pulled a knife on him and that he acted out of self-defense.

Prior to his Broadway debut, playing a bathhouse denizen in the Terrence McNally comedy that ran at Studio 54 in 2007, Donais was one of the most popular gay porn stars of the 1990s. He also once appeared as a centerfold in Playgirl magazine.
