Rent veteran Colin Hanlon will star as Edward Cullen (a role made famous in the film franchise by Robert Pattinson) in the parody Twilight: The Musical. He will join the previously announced Meghann Fahy and Jenna Leigh Green for a concert reading at New World Stages on January 16. The production, which benefits Blessings in a Backpack, is directed by Gabriel Barre.
Twilight: The Musical was created by Ashley Griffin, and features music and lyrics by Griffin, Jeremy Ezell, Sean Mahoney, David Mallamud and Michael Sutherland. Based on the hit teen book series by Stephenie Meyer, Twilight tells the story of Bella Swan, a teenage outcast who falls in love with Edward Cullen, a dangerous vampire.
Hanlon appeared in Broadway’s Rent as both Mark Cohen and Roger Davis. He appeared off-Broadway in I Love You Because. His other credits include Rags, tick, tick…BOOM! and Triangle.
