Brevity is the soul of wit but Tony winner Cynthia Nixon left a lasting impression at the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre on the January 26 opening night of Wit. The actress, who stars as Vivian Bearing, a renowned professor of English obsessed with the Holy Sonnets of John Donne and diagnosed with terminal ovarian cancer, delivered a heart-wrenching performance that brought the crowd through a gamut of emotions. After a standing ovation from an audience that included Nixon’s Sex and the City co-star Kim Cattrall, Wit’s Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Margaret Edson and MTC Artistic Director Lynne Meadow, the cast got glam for a fun party at Times Square’s B.B Kings that included friends, family and, of course, popsicle sticks!
