Broadway vet Jennifer Cody is set to play Naomi in the previously announced upcoming off-Broadway production of Charles Busch’s new comedy Judith of Bethulia. Directed by Carl Andress, Judith of Bethulia will play a limited engagement of 24 performances at Theater for the New City’s Cino Theater beginning March 30 through April 28.
Judith of Bethulia is billed as “an outrageous and bawdy celebration of the Hollywood Biblical epic” featuring lepers, whores, eunuchs, centurions, evil generals, youthful poets and a beautiful red-headed widow.
Cody has appeared on Broadway in Shrek, The Pajama Game, Taboo, Urinetown, Seussical, Beauty and The Beast, Grease and Cats. Her off-Broadway work includes The Wild Party, No No Nanette, Henry and Mudge and Junie B. Jones. Her film and TV credits include Disney’s The Princess and The Frog, American Dad, Law & Order and the upcoming film Khumba.
The cast of Judith of Bethulia also includes Busch, Mary Testa, Dave August, Christopher Borg, Larry Bullock, Kendal Sparks, Jonathan Walker, Jennifer Van Dyck and Billy Wheelan.
