Zarkana, the acrobatic spectacle from Cirque du Soleil that debuted at Radio City Music Hall in the summer of 2011, will return to the storied venue on June 6. The show was originally written and directed by François Girard. The limited engagement is scheduled to run through September 2.
Zarkana (a fusion of the words “bizarre” and “arcana”) is a fantastically bizarre world in which audiences follow the adventures of Zark, a magician who has lost his love and, with her, his powers. As he cries and begs for her return he is plunged into a world inhabited by surreal creatures.
The 2011 debut of Zarkana marked the first of five planned summer runs at Radio City. Designed specifically for the venue, Zarkana's initial engagement coincided with the annual Tony Awards, traditionally held at Radio City, which then moved uptown to the Beacon Theatre.
