The London touring production of The King’s Speech, written by Oscar-winning screenwriter David Seidler, will transfer to the West End's Wyndham’s Theatre this spring. The production will star original cast members Charles Edwards (The 39 Steps) as King George VI and Jonathan Hyde (Titanic) as Lionel Logue. Directed by Adrian Noble and designed by Anthony Ward, the production begins performances March 22, with an official opening night on March 27.
Based on the Oscar-winning film of the same name written by Seidler, The King’s Speech originally premiered February 10 at Guildford’s Yvonne Arnaud Theatre. The tour will continue throughout the U.K. until March 17. Based on a true story, The King’s Speech centers on King George VI, who sees a speech therapist to overcome his stutter. The pair then form a surprising friendship.
In addition to Edwards and Hyde, the production will star Emma Fielding as Queen Elizabeth, Ian McNeice as Winston Churchill, Michael Feast as Cosmo Lang, Joss Ackland as King George V, Charlotte Randle as Myrtle Logue, David Killick as Stanley Baldwin and Daniel Betts and King Edward VIII.
