Six time Tony-nominated director, choreographer and actor Rob Marshall will be honored at the Roundabout Theatre Company's 2012 Spring Gala, From Screen to Stage. Created by his Tony-winning sister Kathleen Marshall, with musical direction by David Krane, the event will be hosted by Martin Short. The gala is set for March 12 at the Hammerstein Ballroom.
In addition to Short, expected performers include Christine Baranski, Raul Esparza, Boyd Gaines, Victor Garber, Donna Murphy, Kelli O’Hara and celebrity attendees include Jane Alexander, Alec Baldwin, Blair Brown, Matt Cavenaugh, Margaret Colin, Barbara Cook, Jim Dale, Richard Easton, Gordon Edelstein, Scott Ellis, Katie Finneran, Alexander Gemignani, Richard Gere, John Glover, Sam Gold, Mark-Paul Gosselaar, Joel Grey, Mamie Gummer, Rosemary Harris, Jayne Houdyshell, Doug Hughes, Marin Ireland, Cherry Jones, Steve Kazee, Justin Kirk, Jane Krakowski, LaChanze, Angela Lansbury, James Lapine, Marsha Mason, John McMartin, Sarah Paulson, Martha Plimpton, Lily Rabe, Phylicia Rashad, Theresa Rebeck, Ron Rifkin, Sherie Rene Scott, John Slattery, Richard Thomas, Tony Walton, John Weidman and Maury Yeston.
Marshall made his Broadway debut in Cats as Munkustrap. He garnered Tony nominations for Best Direction of a Musical for Cabaret (co-directed with Sam Mendes) and Best Choreography nominations for Kiss of the Spider Woman, Damn Yankees, She Loves Me, Cabaret and Little Me. Marshall directed and choreographed the Oscar-winning film Chicago, Nine and Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. He is set to helm the upcoming film adapation of Into the Woods for Disney.
