Tony winner Phylicia Rashad will join Michael Esper and Steven Pasquale in the new NBC pilot Do No Harm, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Rashad will play Dr. Vanessa Young, the chief of surgery and Pasquale’s boss. No filming dates have been announced.
Do No Harm is the story of neurosurgeon Jeffrey Kohn (Pasquale), who struggles to keep his alter-ego Ian Price under wraps. Kohn grapples with his dangerous other half as Price threatens to destroy his personal relationships and career. The cast also includes Alana De La Garza, Mousa Kraish and Ruta Gedmintas.
Rashad is best known for her Emmy-nominated role as Clair Huxtable in the long-running NBC sitcom The Cosby Show. Her Tony win for A Raisin in the Sun marked the first time an African-American actress won the award for Best Performance by a Leading Actress in a Play. Her other stage credits include Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, August: Osage County, Into the Woods, Cymbeline, Jelly’s Last Jam, Dreamgirls and The Wiz.
